理解歷史是人與物件共組的媒介自動劇場。
1939年英國國王喬治六世的聲音穿越了麥克風來到公開廣播，傳遞訊息的過程生成了一個歷史性的節點。與其他能詳的故事、宣傳戰並列一起，除有慣常理解歷史的意義，背後亦是人與媒介共創事件的現場。現在，從2010年電影「王者之聲:宣戰時刻」所理解喬治六世的聲音，在娛樂產業翻拍的內容外，再現這個構成理解歷史的背景本身亦是一個劇場，事件本身穿越在聲音技術、電影語言、歷史現場、前後台場域的複雜交互關係。
作品的實踐不是還原歷史事件，並作為討論劇場關係的現場，也不是設計一個徹底排除人存在的痕跡，部署一個純然機械的空間；相反，在聲音中、在這個亦是製作亦是收聽的現場中，重新設想人與機器之間有一物件以及其認識的方式。這個物件的聲音在不具體與不特定的時間與空間裡，它暫時性地成為形成重要部件。隨著配樂與演說的節奏裡，作品的麥克風與鏡頭調度製作原聲帶的方法參與其中，從各個部件調整與操控這個媒介自動劇場的演出，聲音呈現不是要去還原一個即時的真實現場，而是演出一個實在不存在的現場，作為收聽的內容，穿越在歷史與當下的空間之間。
